Privacy policy
Last updated: 30 September 2026
What this policy covers
This privacy policy describes how Maestroai.Company handles data when you use this website, the Opera application and its web version. In this text, Maestroai.Company is the project behind Opera, Opera is the application, and Maestro is the assistant you talk to inside it.
- No tracking cookies The Site uses neither advertising cookies nor audience analytics tools.
- Control over your data Your data is stored locally on your device, on your own private servers, or on your Google Drive.
- Open source code The Application is open source and auditable by anyone on GitHub.
Use the tabs to jump straight to the section you need: the Site, the Application, your rights, or how to contact us.
Data collected through the Site
The Site sets no tracking cookies and uses no analytics or audience measurement tool. We collect no data automatically as you browse. Your web host keeps standard server logs (IP address, timestamps) for security and network diagnostics.
The only personal data we receive is what you send us voluntarily:
- when you contact us by email at the address shown on the Contact page;
- when you sign up for a beta programme (for example the Opera Android beta), in which case we collect only your email address in order to send you an invitation.
Purposes and legal bases
- responding to your enquiries (legal basis: legitimate interest / consent);
- managing beta programme sign-ups and keeping you informed of their progress (legal basis: consent);
- keeping the Site's standard server logs for security and diagnostics (legal basis: legitimate interest).
Retention
Emails exchanged as part of an enquiry are kept for as long as is necessary to handle your request. Email addresses collected for a beta programme are kept for the duration of the programme, then deleted or anonymised.
Data and storage in the Opera application
Opera is built on a Privacy by Design principle. The Application transmits none of your conversations, queries or personal data to Maestroai.company servers, with one exception that you must enable yourself: the Opera Beta test server (see below).
Where is your data stored?
You keep full control over where your data lives. Depending on how you configure the app, your data is stored:
- Locally: directly and solely in your device's memory (smartphone, computer);
- On your private servers: on personal / self-hosted infrastructure that belongs to you (for example a private server or a local AI instance);
- On your Google Drive: if you choose to enable syncing or backup to your personal Google Drive account. Exchanges then happen exclusively between your device and your Google account, with no intermediary and no access by MaestroAI.
Maestro's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the
Google API Services User Data Policy,
including the Limited Use requirements. Opera only accesses the hidden application data folder of your Drive
(drive.appdata scope) to store your encrypted backup. This data is not used for advertising, is not sold,
is never read by humans and is used only to provide the sync and backup feature you enabled.
The Application's source code is public and auditable on GitHub.
What the Application may involve
- technical and configuration data required for it to work (preferences, settings saved locally or to the storage location you chose);
- bug and crash reports, only if you choose to send one (see below).
Bug and crash reports
When the Application closes unexpectedly, or when you choose to report a bug, it offers to prepare a report. The report is pre-filled in a public GitHub issue on the project's repository: your description, the latest log lines (if you attach them), your device information, the app version and your GitHub username. Nothing is sent automatically: the issue is published only by you, after you have given your consent in the Application and confirmed on GitHub. Maestroai.Company receives no report otherwise. Once published, the issue is public and subject to GitHub's own policy.
AI models
Local models run on your device: no data leaves it. Online models (an Ollama server, an OpenAI-compatible API such as Mistral, or any other provider you configure) receive what you send them (messages, attachments, content read by a tool) at the address you entered: they are then subject to that provider's own policy. The responses produced by an AI model can be inaccurate, incomplete or outdated; check them before relying on them.
Third-party services you choose to use
We do not sell, rent or share any of your personal data. Some features call external services, only once you enable or use them. Maestroai.Company has no access to these exchanges, and each service is governed by its own privacy policy:
- AI providers (Ollama servers or APIs such as Mistral/OpenAI): your messages and attachments are sent to the server or API you configure;
- Backup and sync (Google Drive, Nextcloud): encrypted backups are stored directly on your personal account;
- Web search (DuckDuckGo) and visited pages: search queries and opened web pages are requested directly from the respective websites;
- Conversation sharing (PrivateBin): shared conversations are end-to-end encrypted on your device before sending;
- Downloads and updates (GitHub, Hugging Face): for downloading models or checking application updates.
Opera Beta server
Opera Beta is an internal test server, reserved for beta testers, that you can select in the Application settings to try Opera without setting up your own server. If you use it, everything needed to answer goes through it: your messages, your attachments, what a tool reads for you (contacts, calendar, screen text) and your IP address. Maestroai.Company does not read this data and does not keep it; the server is shut down and wiped at the end of the beta. It is meant for testing only, not for everyday use, and is not a permanent public service.
Web version
The web version of Opera (chat.maestroai.company) is hosted on a secure server. Standard technical
logs (IP address, timestamps) are temporarily retained for security and network diagnostics. Your conversations
and settings remain stored locally in your browser and are not sent to Maestroai.Company.
Android permissions
The Android version may request access to the camera, microphone, photos and media, contacts, calendar, location, notifications and screen capture. These permissions are used only when you ask for it, and the corresponding data is processed on your device. Before a sensitive tool can be used for the first time, the Application asks for your consent. You can withdraw a permission at any time in your Android settings.
Your rights and the security of your data
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, object to and port your data. You can exercise these rights by contacting us at contact@maestroai.company.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the CNIL, the French data protection authority (www.cnil.fr).
Withdrawing your consent
Where processing is based on your consent (for example a beta sign-up), you can withdraw it at any time by writing to contact@maestroai.company. In the Application, you can disable a service, revoke a permission or delete your data at any time.
Minimum age
The Application and the Site are not intended for minors under 15 without the consent of a parent or guardian (GDPR, art. 8).
Retention periods
Your data is kept for a strictly limited duration:
- In the Application and backups (local, Google Drive, Nextcloud): kept under your exclusive control until you delete them or uninstall the Application;
- Emails (contact or beta sign-up): retained only for as long as needed to handle your enquiry or for the duration of the testing programme;
- Temporary test data (Opera Beta server, PrivateBin links): no conversations are retained long-term (automatic expiration or deletion once testing concludes).
Transfers outside the European Union
Maestroai.Company does not itself transfer personal data outside the European Union. Some services you enable may be hosted elsewhere (for example GitHub for bug reports, Google Drive for backups, or external AI APIs), and they are then governed by their own hosting policies.
Security
We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect the data we process against unauthorised access, loss or alteration.
Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy, in particular to reflect changes to the Site, the Application or the applicable regulations. The date it was last updated appears at the top of this page.
